This book, while being only 16,000 words, is difficult to get through. The book isn't written by the author, but by an entity from The Other Side named Seth. Seth is quite well known in the New Age world based on a quick search on Google. The author, Helen Masterson, 'channeled' Seth, and he spoke to her through automatic writing, creating almost all of the content of this book. Supposedly Ms. Masterson typed out what Seth was saying through her with her eyes closed. This may be why the grammar in some sentences is difficult to get through, and words will begin being written in all caps.
Seth likes to rant. Long, repetitive rants that don't seem to say much while taking up a lot of space. Most of it is in hard to read run on sentences. Long run ons are used by many authors, but they are used to create beautiful, uninterrupted poetry, or unfettered stream of consciousness showing the character's thoughts moving from one place to the next. Seth's rants don't do this. What you get is repetitive thoughts such as "Love is Joy, Joy is Love, and Love and Joy are intertwined..." which continues on and on.
The overall message behind the book is admirable at least. Think positively, and act positively, and your life will be better for it. There's a whole chapter that tries to expand upon "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade." The problem with the book is that it doesn't seem to ever go anywhere beyond these simple concepts. It just tells the reader to "reach up" and grab these positive thoughts, or to expand your consciousness into an octopus, or learn to see in the fifth dimension. There is no how or why explained in the book, just do it. "It's as simple as that" seems to be repeated throughout the book, leaving little to know explanation to what Seth is talking about.
